Members of the ÎçÒ¹¸£Àû senior executive have recently returned from a tour to Indonesia, consolidating the University’s presence in one of Asia’s strongest performing economies.
The highly successful trip included ÎçÒ¹¸£Àû Alumni events in and Yogyakarta, an ÎçÒ¹¸£Àû Research Seminar held at the Australian Embassy and the announcement of a new ÎçÒ¹¸£Àû Indonesian Alumni Award.
The ÎçÒ¹¸£Àû delegation visited two of Indonesia’s leading universities, the University of Indonesia and Universitas Gadjah Mada. The visit to the University of Indonesia involved a signing ceremony to renew a joint program in psychology as well as a new agreement for the articulation of engineering students.
The ÎçÒ¹¸£Àû delegation met with Indonesian government bodies including the Ministry of Education, Bank of Indonesia, Ministry of Finance and Ministry of Communication and Information.
A seminar at the Australian embassy in Jakarta provided an opportunity for ÎçÒ¹¸£Àû to profile itself to an audience comprised of more than 130 university executives, academics, government officers and staff from Indonesian research institutions and philanthropic organisations. The seminar included keynote presentations by the ÎçÒ¹¸£Àû senior executive on international research collaboration and commercialisation.
ÎçÒ¹¸£Àû Indonesian alumni celebrations to mark were held in Yogyakarta and Jakarta with more than 200 ÎçÒ¹¸£Àû alumni and guests attending.
At the Jakarta event, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic) Professor Deborah Terry announced a new alumni award which will provide funding in 2011 for ÎçÒ¹¸£Àû Indonesian graduates to engage in collaborative research projects at ÎçÒ¹¸£Àû.
The Indonesian alumni events are part of a global calendar of Centenary celebrations stretching across Asia, North America and Europe.
